S 1307: Fish Passage and Screening
Summary: The bill gives the Secretary of the Interior, acting through the Bureau of Reclamation, the authority to implement fish passage and screening facilities at non-Federal water projects in Oregon, Washington, and portions of Idaho. Introduced by Senator Gordon Smith (R-OR). Also view 35k PDF.
HR 1945: Pacific Salmon Recovery Act
Summary: A bill to authorize and establish procedures for the states of Alaska, California, Idaho, Oregon, Washington and Indian tribes to receive federal funding for salmon habitat restoration projects in coastal waters and upland drainages. The authorization in this bill pertains to the Pacific Coastal Salmon Recovery Fund that has been appropriated by Congress for the last several years. Of notable interest is the fact that the bill would, for the first time, authorize Idaho to receive a portion of these funds. HR 1097: Salmon Planning Act
Summary: To ensure that proper planning is undertaken to secure the preservation and recovery of the salmon and steelhead of the Columbia River basin and the maintenance of reasonably priced, reliable power, to direct the Secretary of Commerce to seek scientific analysis of Federal efforts to restore salmon and steelhead listed under the Endangered Species Act of 1973, and for other purposes. HR 1662: Sound Science for ESA Planning Act of 2003
Summary: Requires USFWS and NMFS to give greater weight to field-tested and peer-reviewed data in their implementation of the ESA.

A companion bill, S 2009, has been introduced in the Senate by Senator Gordon Smith (R-OR).

S 1438: Spokane Tribe compensation from Grand Coulee Dam
Summary: Provide for a settlement between the Spokane Tribe and the Bonneville Power Administration for the construction of Grand Coulee Dam, which eliminated the tribe's salmon fishery and inundated lands important to the tribe for economic, cultural and spiritual reasons. The bill would provide for payments of an unspecified amount of money to the members of the Spokane Tribe, but does not earmark where the likely multimillion dollar compensation would come from. Summary: A bill to provide for various energy efficiency programs and tax incentives, and for other purposes.

Summary: An Act to enhance energy conservation and research and development, to provide for security and diversity in the energy supply for the American people, and for other purposes.
